Grilled Steak Taco Seasoning
Grilled Tacos – Not Ground Beef!
There is nothing wrong with ground beef tacos! Or ground, chicken, turkey, pork, or whatever you can grind up to make tacos! But for this recipe, the focus is on making tacos using thin-sliced meats.
That means you can use everything mentioned above, just don’t grind it. What you want are very thin-sliced boneless steaks, boneless pork chops, and even boneless chicken breasts. Mix up a batch of the seasoning recipe below and use as an overnight seasoning with your chosen meat.
Next, toss the thin-sliced taco seasoned meat on the grill, cook thru, and serve up with all of your favorite BBQ Fresh toppings.
Time for the Seasoning!
Taco Seasoning Ingredients:
- 3 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
Instructions:
Place all the seasoning ingredients in a dry bowl and mix well. Double as needed. If stored properly, the mix will be good for several months.
For Grilled Tacos:
All you have to do is place the meat in a glass dish, add some lime juice, and a splash of olive oil. Next, add in the seasoning (above), toss to mix, and coat evenly. Cover and chill overnight or for a few hours before grilling.

And in case you were wondering… yes, this mix works great with ground meat as well. Just wanted to get people to try whole sliced tacos instead of the typical ground beef versions.
